Munaf Kalia and Javed Khanani Money Exchange Fraud


Javed Khanani, Munaf Kalia handed over to FIA on physical remand
KARACHI: Manaf Kalia and Javed Khanani who are involved in financial scandal have been remanded in FIA custody by Karachi and Lahore courts for 3 and 4 days respectively.
Manaf Kalia was presented in the court of Omar Awan, judicial magistrate South Karachi. FIA requested the court to give remand to take him to Lahore. Israr Ali, counsel for FIA informed the court that FIA crime circle Lahore had registered case against Manaf Kalia and court proceedings will also be initiated against him in Lahore, therefore, transmit remand be granted to shift him to Lahore.
Raza Hashmi counsel for Manaf Kalia opposed the transit remand saying only sessions judge was authorized to grant transit remand and judicial magistrate could not give this remand.
He informed the court his client Manaf Kalia was ill and he had provided medical certificates before the court therefore, FIA be directed to provide all facilities to him.
The court accepted requests of the two counsels and gave remand of Manaf Kalia for three days to FIA.
Javed Khanani was presented before the court of judicial magistrate Faisal Jamil of Lahore City Court. Later Javed Khanani, Rustam Ali Khan and Tariq Mehmood were also handed over to FIA on physical remand for 4 days. Manaf Kalia would also be presented in this court.
State Bank of Pakistan has suspended license of money exchange company Khanani and Kalia for one month for its involvement in transferring billion of dollars to foreign countries illegally.
